Neville Vaux SHUTE and Valda Lillian REID were married on 21 December 1950 in Melbourne Grammar School Chapel, Victoria, Australia. "A redingote gown of magnolia lace and slipper satin was chosen by Miss Valda Lilliam Reid for her marriage yesterday with Mr. Neville Vaux Shute. Rev. J. C. W. Brown officiated at Melbourne Grammar School Chapel. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace James Reid, of Essendon, and the bridegroom the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Vaux Shute, of Essendon. She held her three-tiered tuile veil in place with a pearl-embroidered Dutch bonnet, and carried a trail of water lillies and heather sent from Scotland. The bride's two cousins, Miss Joan Reid and Miss Patricia Jarratt, attended her. They carried 1830 posies against their gowns of apricot moire faille. Mr. David Hudson was best man.
